Classes and Education

This multiple session class prepares expectant mothers and their partners for labor and birth and ideally should be completed 4-6 weeks prior to their due date. Certified Childbirth Educators or Labor and Delivery Nurses cover stages of labor, hospital procedures, medications, cesareans, birthing options and postpartum recovery using video, lecture and group discussion. Couples will also engage in active practice of comfort techniques such as breathing, positioning and touch.

**Mountain View classes provide a hospital tour of El Camino hospital as part of the class. Those couples delivering at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital (Palo Alto), Good Samaritan Hospital (San Jose), and Sequoia Hospital (Redwood City) should contact the hospital directly for tour information.
