Feeding Your Young Child (Santa Clara)
This single-session, two-hour interactive class is based on the work of internationally known pediatric feeding specialist, Ellyn Satter, MS, RD, LCSW, BCD . Satter is therapist, dietitian, author, and lecturer who has combined her expertise in nutrition and psychology to pioneer the field of feeding dynamics.
This class is for parents of children ages 1-5 years who want to learn how to raise a healthy and happy eater. The class teaches parents how to provide the structure and support so children are able to make healthy choices.
Topics covered include: Children's nutritional needs and eating patterns; how to handle picky eating, refusal to eat, refusal to eat vegetables, sweets, overeating, not wanting to sit still to eat at table, mealtime tantrums; and tips for making meal times more enjoyable.
Learning how to deal with these issues now can help prevent health problems, including obesity, and disordered eating patterns later on.
Class is taught by a registered dietitian.
