    Question

    eople say that your sexual preference( ie Male, Female) is determined before birth. Is this true? And is it possible to change your sexual preference?

    Dear Teen:

    We still do not know why some people prefer gay or straight relationships. There are some theories that it is biochemical and starts in the womb, but it is not understood how this happens. Most therapists now believe that sexual preference is biological in origin although some environmental factors may promote a certain sexual preference (such as childhood abuse). If you really determine that you prefer same sex relationships (and this can take a long while to determine), most people have found this does not change over time.
