    Question

    How are hallucinogens taken?

    Answer

Hallucinogens are consumed in different ways, depending on the drug. LSD tends to come on paper or sugar cubes and is absorbed through the mouth or swallowed, mescaline (peyote, buttons)are swallowed or smoked, and psilocybin (mushrooms) are eaten. These are all very dangerous and have health consequences that can include altered states of perception and feeling; nausea/chronic mental disorders, and persisting perception disorder (flashbacks). Also, for LSD and mescaline a person can experience increased body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure; loss of appetite, sleeplessness, numbness, weakness, and tremors. For psilocybin, a person can experience nervousness and paranoia.
