Question
I'm 16 years old and considering getting my belly button pierced. I've read lots of Web sites where people got theirs done and i've heard a lot of "it didn't hurt" and a lot of "it hurt really really bad". I found out that they usually put numbing stuff on it so it doesn't hurt. Although I wish that these people who said it hurt would tell me if they put numbing stuff on it. I have a very low tolerance for pain and not to hot about needles. I'm going to get it done no matter what because I will never know until I do it. But I'm curious if this numbing stuff really numbs your belly so it doesn't hurt? Also if there is anything I should know before I get it done. I've got my ears pierced before and I heard it feels the same. So I'm also going to get my ears pierced for a second time to get the feel of it and maybe I will be more relaxed when I go to pierce my belly button. But is it true that it feels the same as getting your ears pierced?
Answer
I would imagine that getting your ears pierced and belly button are fairly similar. The numbing medicine will help some, but only with the skin pain, there will still be some pain as the pierce goes through your flesh.
