Question
During the summer, I had too much to drink one night and on a bus ride home ended up going for a drive with some strange men (around 21ish years old). They brought me to a park and touched me and photographed me when I was pretty incoherent. Although I never consented, I didn't do much to stop and I was probably even a little flirtatious. Was this my fault?
Answer
No, it was not your fault. You are a minor and these were adult men who took advantage of you when you had been drinking. The touching and photography could qualify for child molestation. Even if you were flirtatious and did little to stop them, you never consented and they should be held responsible. This is a serious offense and the best thing you can do is report it to the police, a counselor or other trusted adult who can help you report it. The concern is to stop this from happening again and to work through your own feelings about what happened. Even if you can't identify these men now the police should be informed to be aware of the problem. It would be best for you to talk with a counselor about what happened so that you don't carry guilty or other bad feelings with you.
