Question
please help me my best friend cuts herself. 4 2 years she has. I just got in a big fight with her and she said she was going 2 cut her self. She says she has no friends. She is going 2 a new school and her family isn't perfect. what can i do?
Answer
Dear friend of a cutter. People cut themselves for many different reasons and sometimes it is very difficult to stop. Some kids find that if they can talk or email a friend they can distract themselves from the need to cut. Other times the need to cut is too powerful and some counseling or therapy is needed. Have you thought of trying to talk to a school counselor or minister about you concern. This person might be able to talk to your friend and her parents without disclosing that you brought it to their attention. The fact that you wrote this question shows me that you are a concerned and caring friend. I hope this gives you some ideas of what to do.
