    Question

My girlfriend and I just started having sex but every time we try to get it all the way in she hurts a lot, and afterwards she tells me that she bleeds. She is afraid to go to the doctor because she is embarrassed and I don't know what to do to help her. Can you guys help us? I'm 25 and she is 23.

    Answer

There are two things you can try before making an appointment with a clinician. First, use extra lubrication (like KY Jelly). If you have tried several times you are both probably staying pretty tense. Second, try a position that allows her to control the entry of the penis into the vagina. Finally, help her over the embarrassment and make an appointment that you attend together. While there, you can also select a reliable method of birth control.
