    Question

I was wondering, I am diagnoised with depression, and I still think about suicide daily. I even have a plan, and I have all the things that I need to fufill my plan. Is this normal? I am confused on whether or not I should worry? Can you help me?

    Answer

Please remember that we cannot answer back directly to anyone. If you feel your life is in danger or have thoughts of suicide, please seek help immediately from your doctor, parent(s) or other adult who can get you the help you need.

Dear Teen: No, it is definitely not normal to think about suicide daily and to have a plan you could fulfill. You need to call your doctor right away, preferably the one who diagnosed you with depression, and let him/her know what you are thinking. There are medications that can help you, and if you are on one you may need a change or a higher dosage. Be sure you are seeing a licensed psychotherapist who can help you deal with your feelings as well as a psychiatrist who can prescribe the best medication. Don't let this condition continue to go on without getting the best expert advice. Depression is an illness that can be treated very successfully!
