Question
My friend "came out" to me the other day and told me that she is bisexual. However, she has had about 4 boyfriends in her life and all of them turned out to be gay. Do you think this heartbreak caused her to look for love wherever she can or something else similar to that? I don't think she is bisexual. I think she is just a little lost. She is only 17.
Answer
Who we are attracted to sexually is not a "reaction" to experiences, but usually something we are born with. It takes people a while to sort these feelings out and it is not uncommon to have sexual partners of either gender.
Your friend believed that you would support her when she shared her feelings about her sexuality. The most important thing you can provide is your friendship - she will sort out her sexuality - just be her friend.
