Puberty isn't going right
Posted on: 04/06/2006
Question
I am 15 years old I am overweight and puberty hasn't really gone right for me. I have pubic hair, under-arm hair and some facial hair but my penis is about the size of a baby's penis. I have been really concerned about it since the penis is supposed to start growing around 14 1/2 and I am almost 16 and nothing has happened down there so far.
Answer
Puberty is a process not an explosion. It does take some time to complete and the time it takes really varies by for each person. If you already have some hair and other changes I think the best advice is to be patient. You may consider discussing the issue with your family physician to get their advice and perform an exam to see if you really have delayed puberty.
I would also point out that the pad of fat on the abdomen often make the penis look smaller than it actually is. If you are overweight my best advise is to increase your activity, stop drinking soda and not snack if you are watching television.
Good luck and good health.
