Question
I have a scab just under the head of my penis. About six months ago I picked at it and when it came off, my penis started bleeding. It lasted about a half and hour, which obviously is unusual. Now in the same spot, I have a bigger scab-like thing there that sticks out just a little bit and looks like it's full of blood. It's similar to a scab, but it isn't as thick or rough as a scab. What is it and would it be safe to pick it off?
Answer
A persistent lesion that looks like it contains blood MAY be what is called hemangioma. This is a benign vascular lesion. Picking it off is unwise because it will likely bleed. You would be advised to see your personal physician or a dermatologist for treatment.
