    Question

I have been with girl for a few months. We went out my freshmen year of high school. That year we broke up, but we were still talking. So during the summer we talked a little for 3 months. In March, she just turned 17 and she asked me if would like to go out with her and her family for dinner and the movies. But I think she just wanted to be friends. I know she has hard feelings about it and I have the same. I took her to Millarty Ball and she kissed me during one of the songs. A few week passed, we went to the movies and talked on the phone until midnight more that four times. She always said she was thinking about me and I think about her every waking moment. Just last night, April 2,2006 someone called me and told me that she was going out with her and that person is of the same sex. This happened before I can tell that my girlfriend wants to be with me, but she was hiding this from. Before we got back together she could of told me she was seeing some boy or girl. It wouldn't matter, so tell me what should I do if she wants to go out with me?

    Answer

It sounds to me like she actually really likes you and your company. It might be time for a long talk about her feelings, your feelings and whatever you learned when the other person called you. Your girlfriend may in fact be seeing you and another person, she may have feelings for both of you, and she may be really confused about her own sexual orientation. Please believe what she does and says -- and most importantly, be honest with her about your feelings. You are a good friend and a nice person -- I am sure she cares about you, now you need to figure out how to take care of your own heart. Good luck.
