Removing a piece of skin
Posted on: 07/21/2006
Question
I am a 19-year-old female, and I'm married. When I was younger (about 9), I was raped. Afterwards I noticed my vagina wasn't the same, there was a tear. I never told anyone about it, but now that I'm older the tear bothers me. It hurts at times, because the tear made skin hang out from my vagina, so when I sit or stand in certain ways it kind of gets pinched or pulled. It hurts, is uncomfortable and embarrassing. It looks like a dead piece of skin just kind of hanging by a thread. It's discolored, not the same color as the rest of my vagina. I think that since I've been sexually active it's getting worse, and more uncomfortable. I don't know how to tell my husband about it after two years of marriage, or that I want it removed or something. Is it possible to have it removed? Can you please help me?
Answer
Yes this should be fixable.
Go to a gynecologist and let them look at it.
Your husband probably is aware that there are times when you are not comfortable during sex. He would probably be relieved to learn why. Our husbands usually want to take care of us. If it feels right, you might discuss this with him.
