Question
During sexual intercourse last night, I got an internal sharp pain on my right side near the hip bone. I have had this pain mildly before, but not for a long time. What do you think it is? Is it serious?
Answer

| Sometimes during intercourse the ovary will be touched and that can cause a sharp pain. Some women will notice this more in certain positions then in other positions. Pain that comes rarely and goes away quickly is usually not anything to be worried about.
If you start having pain every time you have intercourse, or if the pain starts lasting for some time then you should go to your doctor or clinic and be checked out. This could be caused by many things including sexually transmitted infections, ovarian cysts or bladder infections
