    Question

I'm 14, and my boyfriend is 15. He has had sex only once before, however I'm a virgin. I'm quite positive that my physical body is ready for sex. And the emotional side ( heartbreak, boyfriend leaving me ) I am also not worried about. However I would like another opinion on whether I should have sex or not?

    Answer

Ok, here is some more to think about, and my opinion. First, actually, at 14 your cervix is not done developing and is still more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infection. Second, statistics show that the earlier you begin having sex, the more likely you are to get a sexually transmitted infection, and have a high number of sexual partners, which also increases risk for sexually transmitted infection. Finally, you are only 14 and have so much more to look forward to and experience - why introduce sex into this relationship or any relationship. Once a relationship is sexual, sex will become the focus, and then you do not have the chance to learn about friendship and intimacy, trust, and sharing the world together. I realize this sounds hokey, but I promise, it is true! Experience the world while you can - save sex for later!
