    Question

How long can acne last, and second can Accutane make skin worse or does it always work once it kicks in?

    Answer

Acne can last a long time. If you have a strong history of acne in your family, you might go the same route. On the other hand, it can be kind of unpredictable and clear up in a few months. The main thing is to get treatment to control it, so that you are not embarassed by it or don't develop scarring. Accutane can make your acne flare in the beginning, but this can be controlled by cutting back on the dose or by adding cortisone. It is a really really useful medication when used correctly, and in my experience, almost everybody responds to it. Make sure you get it from a dermatologist or from someone who has a lot of experience using it. Good luck!
