    Question

I had my left nipple pierced almost a year ago and just recently it developed a cyst-like bump on one end of the piercing. When I first encountered it I cleaned it out and immediately the swelling went down. But a hard bump remained. I went to my piercer and she advised that I wash it out with salt water and try to push out whatever might be inside the bump. I did this but it only appeared to make it worse. I think I may have squeezed the bump too hard because it bruised inside and now the some blood is flushing out. There is no puss and it is only sore because I bruised it after trying to rid the nipple of the bump. Can I wait for it to heal and avoid having to remove the ring or is this much more serious? Thank you for your time!

    Answer

You need to go see a doctor who can assess the nature of the lump and tell you how to proceed. Good luck!
