    Question

I'm supposed to go for my first pap smear in two weeks. I'm really nervous, just because I'm kind of shy. But I'm also paranoid because of me taking antibiotics for acne, I have been having yeast infections on and off all year. At the moment, it burns when I pee and there's a light discharge. Will that affect the pap smear? If I may or may not have a yeast infection or some other type of infection, will they still be able to do the test? I don't want the doctors to think I'm gross...

    Answer

Your physician will be able to walk you through the gyn exam, including the speculum exam for the pap smear. Even if you have a yeast infection, the physician will be able to perform a pap smear. The physician will also be able to diagnose a yeast infection for you to make sure that you are treating yourself with the right treatment.
