    Question

I believe I may have an oral herpes infection, type 2, which I know is not as common but seems to have happened. Can I still kiss the family pets? Will they get herpes? Can it live on them and be transferred to other family members?

    Answer

Fortunately, human herpes virus cannot be transmitted to animals, or other species besides humans. Many other species have their own herpes viruses, which, fortunately again, we as humans are not able to catch.
