Question
I have had off and on pimple-like bumps on the under side of my penis for a few (2 or 3) years now. They seem to stop and then come back one or two at a time. I used to pop them, but have stopped. I have never had sex because the bumps are embarrassing and I'm afraid it could be contagious. I?m embarrassed to see a doctor. When there are no pimple-like bumps, there are still tiny bumps the color of my skin that don't bother me. What do you think this is and what can I do about it. Thank you.
Answer
Since you have never had intercourse, these cannot be sexually transmitted. They may be inflamed hair follicles (folliculitis). No need to pop them. No concern about their being contagious. They may be more likely to occur due to skin friction. During masturbation it is important to use adequate lubricant such as KY jelly
