    Question

I recently shaved my vaginal area and it is now about a week after I did it. I have pus-filled spots around it and itching. Do I have an infection? If so, is there anyway to treat it without seeing my doctor?

    Answer

This may be an infection or just irritation after shaving your vaginal area. Signs of infection are red and painful skin or bumps that leak pus when popped. If you have red and painful bumps, you can apply a warm towel to the area 3 or 4 times a day to help it to heal, however, if it does not get better or becomes worse you may need to get an antibiotic ointment from a doctor.

Itching after shaving your vaginal area is common. This can occur about a week after you've shaved because the hair is growing back. The tiny hairs can irritate the skin and cause you to itch. Again, if the itching gets worse or does not get better, you should see a doctor or show someone who you trust.
