    Question

In an obsessive, uncontrollable way, I am always overly aware of how uncomfortable/tense my muscles and joints are. There is nothing wrong with them, but I still feel uncomfortable 24/7. I know that my focusing on them this way also makes them tense up. It's horrible. I'm always flicking/stretching/tensing my joints for instant relief and then end up with 'ligamentitis' or muscle pains for the next few days. What is going on with me?

    Answer

You should consider finding ways to distract yourself from these thoughts. You may try focusing your energy on a particular sport or exercise that would work your muscles in a more productive way. You may consider stretching, yoga or Pilates as well. Many people have obsessive thoughts about various things, but when those thoughts interfere with your daily life (with your relationships with your friends and family, with your work or school or with your general well-being) then you should seek counseling to help you manage those thoughts.
