    Question

I have had a brownish discharge for the past couple days. I have had this before, but it went away so I didn't think anything of it. I think it has a smell to it. I feel I have to wear liners everyday so I won't feel wet. I have had sex but not for 2 months. also I have been on birth control for a little over a year now. Should I be worried? Please respond.

    Answer

This brownish discharge could be a number of things. It could be perfectly normal. Sometimes our vaginal discharge is different in color and amount depending on how close we are to our period. The discharge could also be due to a common problem called bacterial vaginosis which is an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina. This is not an STD and can be treated easily with medication. If the discharge continues, especially if it has a strong smell, you should see a physician.
