    Question

Hi, I am 14 years old and I got my period september 11th 2006. Since then i got a period in December, January, February, March (late march going into april) and then again on April 16th. Some periods have been brown discharge and lasting for 4 days and others have been heavier and lasting for up to 7 days. I wanted to know if this was normal. And also, I am on my period right now for April and i was sure I was done because i was getting very light brown discharge in small amounts but when I went to the bathroom i wiped and there was RED blood all over the tissue with little bits of blood clotting in it. Please tell me if this is normal? I am very worried.

    Answer

It sounds perfectly normal to me, and you may want to print a calendar off the internet and circle the days you have a period for a couple of months so you can show your doctor when you see her. Most women have a regular cycle, but the heaviness of the flow and whether you get cramps or not tend to change every month, which is normal. Talking to your doctor is always a good idea if you are worried. Good luck!
