    Question

I just wanted to ask you since I forgot to ask my doc, I am just curious that if you received a pap smear, and its normal does that rule out sexual transmitted diseases or do you need specific tests from your doctor for that?

    Answer

I am so glad you asked! A pap smear only tests for cervical cancer. If you think you may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection, have had a new sexual partner, or just want to know, you have to ask to be tested for sexually transmitted infections. Most tests only test for one or maybe two diseases.
