Question

Could I have crabs? I woke up today covered in bites around my buttocks and inner thighs. There are bites also on my face, neck, arms and torso but my inner thighs are so bad they're swollen. I noticed my vagina smells more than usual too. I have a steady boyfriend who lives away so it's unlikely I could have caught it sexually.

Answer

From your description, crab lice are on the list of possibilities, but other causes are also possible. Bites from other insects or mites can occur this time of year as can other rashes due to allergies, infections such as folliculitis due to fungi or bacteria, etc. I recommend you make an appointment with your doctor to have it seen and evaluated.
