Question
Hi,
I just started a normal flow with my period, but after my period I have brown discharge. This lasts sometimes all the way until my period starts up again. I usually wear a tampon, sometimes I have to wear tampons for a whole month, I hate it. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to stop it?
Answer
The brown discharge you are having is probably "spotting," or non-period bleeding from your uterus. It can happen from time to time in anyone, but it's not really normal, especially to go on for so long. It could also be an infection. You should see a doctor, who will be able to ask you questions about your health and do an exam to find out exactly what's going on.
