    Question

Can too much sex, like every day for a few days make it easier to get a yeast infection. I have one, and I know that's what it is, I've had them before. I just want to know if I can avoid them by not having so much sex.

    Answer

I don't think sex causes yeast infections, but it does make you much more aware of yeast infections. Remember yeast is a normal part of your vagina. When the yeast overgrows it will cause that itchy feeling. If you have just a little extra yeast and you don't have sex you probably will feel just fine and the yeast may eventually go away on by itself. BUT if you have a little extra yeast and then have sex the yeast is pushed into the tender vulvar tissues and the next day you feel all irritated and itchy. This gives a lot of women the feeling that "sex is causing yeast infections". It doesn't--but you feel uncomfortable either way.
