    Question

i recently received my first depo shot. It was given to me in my stomach. I was expecting a shot in my arm or buttocks. Is a shot in the stomach normal.

    Answer

Depo-Provera was studied with subcutaneous injections in the abdomen or thigh, so that is how the manufacturers recommend giving the medication. Probably subcutaneous injections anywhere in the body would be similar but the actual testing of the product was given in the above locations. Normally immunizations (like your routine tetanus shot) would be given in the deltoid muscle of your arm.
