Question
I'm 20, never had sex. 3 days after my period ended I noticed streaks of blood in vaginal discharge, sometimes it's brown instead. It's been 3 days now. My vaginal area does not itch and does not feel pain. I had infection years ago. Could this be related? Is what's happening normal? Can this be anything serious like cancer? My grandma and aunt died from cervical cancer.
Answer
Occasionally women will have a strange period. Sometimes if we are under stress, or if we are living in a different situation our periods will be a little longer. If this goes away and you go back to your normal period you do not need to be worried.
On the other hand if you have a change in your period and it lasts for more then one cycle you should be checked out. Since you have not had sex you don?t have an infection or cervical cancer. But your doctor would still want to check your hormones and make sure the rest of your female organs are fine.
