Question
Hello
I myself am not in the age range of 13 - 20 years old, but my daughter is 15. I understand that it is difficult to answer questions about lumps, bumps etc. but this is a general question and I am not looking for a full-on diagnosis, just a helping hand. As I said, I have a 15 year old daughter. For the past 8 months or so she has had a small white lump (coming from underneath the skin) around 1.5 cm away from the opening of her anus. She has refused to see a doctor but seeing as it has been there for so long and has caused her no harm as far as we can tell it seems to be pretty insignificant. If you think you may know what this is, I would be grateful if you could recommend some treatment options as it is a worry for her.
Thank you
Answer
Does your daughter feel comfortable with her doctor? It would be a good idea to take a look at the lump.
Things to think about are cysts (such as an epidermal inclusion cyst or a Bartholin's gland cyst) or if more solid in appearance, lipoma, fibroma or wart. Treatment of course depends on what it actually is.
