    Question

can you get herpes by kissing someone???

    Answer

If the person you are kissing has an open lesion (cold sore) then herpes is easily transmitted. Oral sex can also transmit the virus. The herpes virus can also be transmitted during the prodrome (this occurs prior to lesions actually breaking out when the person will often feel a tingling, burning sensation). The virus is being shed at this point.
