    Question

Hi ya. My girlfriend has told me that she is ready for sex in a few days and that she's going on the pill. I have checked myself out at a clinic and am clean of any potential diseases that i could give her but am not sure whether i need to use a condom or not if she's on the pill. Should i or not?

    Answer

YES! Please do start using condoms, in addition to birth control - to prevent sexually transmitted infection. Research shows that youth who use condoms during their first sexual experience are more likely to use them their whole lives, get pregnant less (accidentally), and have fewer sexually transmitted infections. If you need other reasons: 1) birth control pills are not effective unless she never misses one and takes them at the same time every day; 2) condoms are "neater"; 3)not everyone is "faithful." Glad you asked!
