    Question

do normal doctors/gp's do pap smears or do you have to go to a gyn?

    Answer

Usually your pediatrician or family doctor will do it - each year you are sexually active until age 25 then every couple years - the pap tests for cervical cancer, so they will also screen for sexually transmitted infections - ob/gyns are usually more specialized - and you go if you have a problem.
