    Question

    I've been in a very long relationship with my boyfriend who is the same age as I, I am 15 and so is he. I am in good favor with his family, and we are the first people we've slept with. I've told Mom this and about a week later she told me I was a slut. Am I?

    Answer

    I am so sorry that your mom said that to you, and that it hurt your feelings. She obviously wishes that you were not sexually active at your age, probably knows the risks of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy, and may be afraid for your health. I hope you have another adult in your life that will answer any questions you have about relationships and sexuality - maybe an aunt or teacher, or doctor.

    You seem to know that you are not a slut - your question includes your beliefs that this is a long-term boyfriend, your only partner, and his family likes you. What you believe is what matters.

    Do me a favor though, please take care of yourself - make an appointment with your doctor, start on a reliable method of birth control, and always use condoms. Protecting yourself is one way to reflect your self-confidence and maturity.
