    Question

I've been sexually active for about 4 years now, and about 3 times after having sex my inner labia have gotten swollen and painful. Can it be an allergic reaction to the lubricant i'm using, or maybe the condom? Also, is it normal to have vaginal itching on rare occasion?

    Answer

Those are both great questions for your doctor when you see her. I am hoping if you have been sexually active this long, that you have had a pap test and are using a reliable method of birth control.

The swelling is most likely due to a lack of lubrication, and yes, sometimes everyone gets itchy, particularly if you have not showered regularly, but it goes away and is not associated with a foul odor or unusual discharge.
