    Question

Hello, my last menstrual cycle was 7/23 i found out i was a couple days pregnant on 10/05 but had a miscarriage the day after, it is now 11/07 and I haven't gotten a regular period yet, is this normal? is there a chance that I might be pregnant still even though I've taken tests and they've been negative? after you've had a miscarriage how long should you expect to get your next menstrual cycle?

    Answer

After a miscarriage, your period "resets" so you shouldn't expect it for a while. You should STILL use contraception, as we advise not to attempt pregnancy for 3 cycles after your miscarriage. This givens your hormones a chance to regulate and your uterus time to recover. You can expect your period usually within a month after you completely STOP BLEEDING - so that may be weeks after the actual miscarriage. If you are concerned, you can take repeated pregnancy tests, but your period will start again and you should definitely use contraception.
