Question
Hi, Just looking for some advice. How do I know if I have BV? Do you have to have a fishy odour or can just discharge alone be a symptom? I had BV once before and I remember having a discharge. I didnt think it was that thick but what alerted me was clumps falling out into the toilet. The nurse confirmed it was BV. Im a bit confused now about my normal discharge. I have a white discharge that isnt smelly and doesnt fall out in clumps as before but im worried it may be BV again. Does anybody have any ideas/thoughts? Many thanks! :-)
Answer
Bacterial vaginosis can cause a thick yellowish discharge often with a "fishy" smell. If you are concerned please see your physician for an exam and testing. It is not unusual to have a mild, clear discharge which can increase slightly at ovulation and right before starting your period.
