Is my discharge normal?
Posted on: 01/08/2008
Question
I am 14 and a virgin. For a while i have had this discharge...it is clear and when it dries it is a light yellow. It also has an odor to it. I have read that an odor can be a symptom of a yeast infection, but it also says that the discharge is thick and like cottage cheese. Mine is not like that consistency. I have also found that yellow discharge can be a sign of STD, but i can't have that. I can't quite classify if the odor is normal or bad, I can't say that i like it. Anyway I am really scared and really don't want to have to talk to my mom or go to a doctor...I am really worried. What is wrong???
Answer
If you have not had sex, and there is no pain, my vote is your discharge is perfectly normal. The smell is probably specific to you and is OK, too. If it ever has a "bad" smell, you will know it. I know your body is changing, but you are probably fine.
There is a great new book, called Body Drama by Nancy Redd that you may want to have around - great answers to everyday questions.
