Question
I am thinking i need to see a gynecologist, but i am embarrassed. Do i need a doctor recommendation or can i just make an appointment? Does health care cover it or will i have to pay (im in canada)? I would like to keep my mother from knowing.
Answer
I believe the care is free and you can visit a gyn without a doctor referral, but any family medicine doctor can do a pelvic exam, start you on birth control and test for stds. I am not sure about the law in Canada about parents knowing - here they cannot - so call the doctor's office and ask. Be brave - your health is important!
