Question
I recently started to take the birth control pill and have been taking it for about two weeks. My question is how long do you think is best to wait before having unprotected sex.
Answer
We usually recommend using condoms with a new birth control method for at least one month. Actually, we recommend that you continue to use condoms with the pill to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections, since the pill only prevents pregnancy.
Remember to take your pill every day, at about the same time every day!
