Question
I'm taking Effexor XR for depression/anxiety. I'm a person that believes I need to try everything once, things that I want to try. I want to try LSD. I searched the web for anything that might help me out with giving me the 'risks' or whatever. I can't find anything. Can you help me out?
Answer
You might already be aware of some of the risks of taking LSD alone (including impaired judgement and "bad trips" where you could feel paranoid or anxious or out-of-control). Since LSD and Effexor XR both work to affect your brain and mood, this can be a dangerous combination because you don't know how your body will react. Also, LSD on its own may lead to long-term schizophrenia (a psychiatric disorder) and severe depression, so if you already have depression, this could worsen it. Finally, LSD has been associated with "serotonin syndrome," which is a potentially life-threatening drug reaction. The risk of getting serotonin syndrome is higher if you take both LSD and Effexor XR.
