Question
i currently use birth control in the form of contraceptive implant (in arm). i split with my long term boyfriend of 2 and a half years around 9 months ago, but last month we decided to get back together. he assured me that he used a condom with the girl he had slept with while we were broken up. But he has gone back to her as she is pregnant, and he said that he had lied to me about the whole condom thing. i now am experiencing lower abdominal cramps and was 2 weeks late for a period. but when it finally came on, it was a brown bloodish discharge that only lasted 1 day. my periods are irregular due to the form of birth control that i use, but are usually long, heavy and a bright red bloodish discharge. i have taken 3 pregnancy tests that have come back negative. is this unusual discharge a sign or symptom of a STI? Please help. not only am i feeling down and low about the break up but am becoming upset and depressed about whether i am infected or not. please help (sorry if i have gone on too much). Thank you

Well good riddance to the boyfriend - I am sorry he lied to you. I think it would be a great idea to go see your doctor or a clinic and talk about the symptoms and get tested for sexually transmitted infections - to rule them out and bring you some peace. Good luck!
