    Question

I am pregnant. I went to the hospital about a week ago, and they couldn't find a heartbeat, or the baby. Today I am having diarrhea and lower back pain, and a reddish-brown discharge. Could I be miscarrying?

    Answer

From your description it sounds like you had an empty gestational sac found in the uterus? Not sure from your question if the ultrasound found any evidence of the pregnancy. If it is a nonviable pregnancy, you would expect heavy bleeding and cramping during a miscarriage. You can take NSAIDs to help with the cramping. If you become dizzy/lightheaded or if the pain or bleeding becomes too heavy, you should go to the ER for evaluation.
