Question

What causes rape?

Answer

Rape is a violent act, and I am not sure anyone can say what causes people to be violent towards another human being. There are probably many causes - frustration with a life situation, low self-esteem, having been abused themselves, drugs, media images of violent acts, etc...

If someone you know has been raped, please encourage them to call the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) - or go to: www.rainn.org/. They will put you in contact with someone in your town who can help!
