    Question

i live in australia and i have been asked to prepare a class for year 7's (12-13 yr olds) about stress. i am unsure about how to present this subject to this particular age group. are you able to give me some pointers? thanks.

    Answer

We do not usually help with homework, but check out these sites:
    www.pamf.org/preteen/growingup/choices/stress.html
    www.pamf.org/preteen/myfeelings/emotions/

The hardest things for 12-13 year olds to handle is "peers," so asking the students to identify characteristics that make good friends and characteristics that suggest a person would not be a good friend is a good activity.

Next, I would focus on good communications skills (www.pamf.org/preteen/myfeelings/communication/) and have the kids role play solving conflicts that are common at that age: 1) hurt feelings; 2) feeling excluded; and 3) bullying.

    Good luck!
