Is this an STD?
Posted on: 05/13/2008
Question
I lost my virgintaly last week (protected), and i had a LOT of pain in the abodomanal area when going to the bathroom (buring sensation, felt like i had to go for the whole day), and it's pretty much gone by now when peeing. My discharge is normal yet musty smelling (white and gooey), and i have flu like symptoms--stuffy nose, throat irrated, and sore and stiff. Do i have an std, should i get checked and should i tell my parents?
Answer
Well, I always think talking to parents is a good idea, and you will want to see a doctor or Planned Parenthood to start a regular and reliable method of birth control, so you could ask about all of this then.
If the first sex was protected, and it was with another virgin, you are likely fine and are getting a cold, and maybe a bladder infection. If your partner has been sexually active before, it would be good to be checked for STDs. Hope you feel better!
