    Question

I'm a 19 year old female and I'm sexually active. I'm on the pill, zovia. I take the pill continuously to avoid having my period because I get really bad cramps. I have this thick clumpy brown discharge that is kind of mucous like. What could this be caused by?

    Answer

Because you take the pill continuously, you are not building up a lining and then shedding it completely. It might be better for you to take the pill less continuously, for example for 3 months and then stop to allow shedding. The Mirena IUD might be a good option also. You should see your provider to discuss this.
