    Question

For the past 4 months, my dad has been having violent outbursts toward me, and has been punching me and trying to hurt me. I have a summer program and I am constantly trying to mask up my bruises and injuries with lame excuses. What can I do? He threatens me is I ever tell anyone, and I'm scared to death. I trust PAMF because I have a physician there. Please respond thanks.

    Answer

This problem with your Dad punching you is very serious and does qualify as child abuse. I am glad to hear you trust PAMF because there is help available in your medical clinic. You need to tell your physician confidentially what is happening and he/she will help guide you to get help so that you will not be injured. The only way out of this cycle of abuse is to tell someone who knows how to handle these problems. If you cannot speak with your physician right away, call the Teen Health Resource Line at Packard Hospital and ask them for the best referral. The main thing is to act right away before the problem gets any worse. If things get really out of control in the meantime, you can always call the police and they will help you learn how to protect yourself.
